Forever stamps in coils?

The Forever Stamp has been a great idea. Billions of stamps later, the public likes the notion of buying stamps that work regardless of the current price.

And honestly, it's also much easier on us.  We're certainly making money on the fact that it costs us time and money to sell those pesky one- and two-cent stamps.

But there's currently no coiled option for the stamp, as they only come in sheets of 20.  So businesses are somewhat reluctant to buy in.

Do you think Forever Stamps should come in larger quantities?

Comment here.

I'm a very small post office and yet people always want the coils to be forever stamps.

Absolutely, the FOREVER stamp should be sold in coils! For years now, our customers have been asking for this stamp in coil format.

Yes, make coils. We now have the prestamped business envelopes with the forever stamp, this is just a step in the right direction. This could eliminate any other coil design which would make the printing a lot less and no waste.

My wife mails a lot of correspondences and has complained since the inception of the forever stamp that it does not come in rolls. My question is why haven't we done it? I thought we were a business and attempting to serve the public needs....

All I can say is it would be about time. My customers have always asked if the forever stamps came in the roll and have complained that they haven't. We have business envelopes with forever stamps on them?? Great another item that my office is behind on because we have poor management.

Why should we give the customers what they want?

Yes, if the other coils are eliminated. We do not need more variety to up our inventory. In a manual office we have to carry enough variety, that it is hard to stay under our stock limit. Replace the flag coils with Forever coils or keep Forevers in books.

I bought a package of 100 Forever Stamps before Christmas at Costco. It was not a coil, but a prepackaged 100 stamps, so larger packages do exist.

Biggest part of sells is:
supply = demand
Plus: different options available.

My thoughts have been expressed by others. What's the hold up? Oh, I forgot, first a scan has to be developed then a log for that scan then a log of the log.

Yes. That is what the customer wants.

Let me say yes to the most frequent request that I have.

YES! YES! YES!

I have had customers request rolls of Forever stamps, but they've always been happy to take five books. I do think, though, that it's a logical step...we are anticipating having these stamps, well, forever, so what's the holdup?? It's something our customers want, we should provide it!!

Let's get back to customer service!!

YES YES YES - My customers want them in coils!

I understand why they didn't do so at first - they wanted Forever stamps to just be a solution for customers to buy when price changes were coming so they wouldn't need make-up stamps. But the Forever stamps are so popular that they are the only stamps some customers buy. So coils are definately wanted and needed. I also understand that HQ doesn't want businesses to buy lots of coils for future use but they could either limit the quantity purchased at one time or, if offices don't carry large enough quantities to meet demands of big orders, have those customers order them like they do personalized envelopes. I know that a lot of customers want the flags in books or sheets of 20, too, so that's another suggestions. If we made Love stamps in panes rather than books and just had Forever and Flag designs in books that would help small offices stay under stock limits and still keep most customers happy. We'll never please everyone, but I think Forever Coils would be a good start.

Why wouldn't we make coils of forever stamps. If the demand is there (and it sounds like it is) let's make our customers happy and "get er done"!

We have customers who want many stamp designs in coils---Love, Celebrate, Christmas, anything that they find particularly appealing or need a lot of at the time. We can't print everything in coils...Forever Envelopes are only available by mail order; perhaps Forever coils could be made available that way. I remain in favor of Forever books in the local post office, and some type of Flag coils.

Yes, Sell in the 100 coil. It is a convienece. If they want special stamps they should be in the books or sheets.

I could sell alot more coils if Forever Stamps came in coils.

Absolutely........my office would sell them out the door if they came in a coil.

YES YES--Lets not forget we are a service business.

Sell forever stamps in coils, but only through Contract Postal Units.

I like the idea of forever coils and some customers would love it. My customers also like the coils of 50 flags. How about forever coils of 50. This gives the customer the choice of format in coil and keeps the amounts smaller for those of us who are small offices and need to worry about stock limits.

Yes, Maybe they would be able to keep them in production, and not run out nationwide like they have with the flag coils, and insist we should push the state flag coils which business do not want. We need to give the customers what they want, not what the Post Office has over produced. CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Of course, why didn't they do that to begin with. If they want to sell in quantity, that is the way to do it. None of my customers could understand why we didn't and I didn't have an answer for them either.

Anonymous said...

Absolutely... YES !! As a window clerk, I often have businesses that want to buy a roll of those "forever" stamps. In most cases, I'm able to sell them (5) books but it would be more senseable if they came in a ROLL !!

Customers are always asking for coils of the Forever Stamps.

Not making Forever stamps available in coils was perhaps the smartest marketing decision ever made. Our customers want the stamps, but they have to really want them to deal with them in booklet form. If we offer Forever stamps in coil form, we might as well never print any other stamps at all. Only coiled Forever stamps will be wanted. Any price increases needed in the future would be moot.

I think it would generate more income right away if we sold them in coils.

Have you never heard of the pre stamped envelope with the forever stamp on it? What could be easier for your customers? This is a service that shouild be discusse3d each and every time your customer asks for a coil of forever. This is a great savings for businesses that mail statements out .

Absolutely yes. We need the money; so what if customers hoard them and use them into the future? We would have the present value of their money for a service we might -- or might not -- have to provide in the future. Remember, hoarded stamps are sometimes never used. In that respect they would be analogous to gift cards, which are hugely profitable.

No!!!!
Forever stamps are made to ease the transition when there is a rate change, which is a very good idea.
Tell a veteran or a family that has one serving in a Afganistan or Iraq that they can not have the American flag. No thanks!
Don't mess with a countries heritage for the name od convience.

I am for it! Each time there is a rate increase, many small offices are "stuck" with coils that no one wants. I think it's the biggest waste of time and resources to simply to ship the old rated colis back for destruction!? We would never have this problem with the forever stamps.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it would increase our revenue, we always asking for forever in coils.

Roll 'em out......

I believe we should sell the Forever stamp in coils. My husband and I buy stamps by the coils because we always mail our bills, letters, etc. I'm not much on e-mail - he wishes we would sell them in coils too. Otherwise he has to hurry and use up what he has before the price goes up.

Anonymous said...

YES PLEASE!! I would love to buy forever stamp in a coil!

Anonymous said...

why not just buy 5 books? = 100

Anonymous said...

I would buy the Forever Coil if it were available!!! I got the stamp dispenser the US PO website sells (nice one too) and well it takes ONLY rolls (coils) so... :)

So large fan, bought them and wish they were in the coil!!! -- Kevin in PA

Yes, I think they should be sold in coils.

what is the roadblock to selling Forever stamps in COILS??? I cannot believe you would not be doing this already...

It makes so much sense to do it, I guess that's why you don't ... Sorry, but I am just totally frustrated at another ridiculous obstacle to dealing with a government service. Forever Coils are needed NOW.

I urge everyone who reads this blog to write to Congress. That is the only way it will happen. Voices will be heard, and it's a no-brainer for an incumbent congress person to want to please his or her constituents.

Two things :
Forevers should be in coils
Secondly, people sending wedding invitations always gripe because the postage rate goes up as they're mailing invitations.
Why not a "Forever Love" stamp ?

You won't have to wait forever to buy forever coils! The USPS is issuing forever stamps in coils of 100 on Dec 1, 2010.

the forever stamp is the way to go. Let's get it in coils??PLEASE??

I think ALL first class stamps should be forever stamps, and that, yes, they should come in coils as well. I was surprised, when the forever stamp was first developed, that regular stamps were continued. I thought the whole idea behind the forever stamp was to save on new art frame up and printing costs.
