Stars on Stamps

It's an honor bestowed on America's best-loved entertainers who've passed away. Elvis, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and most recently, Katharine Hepburn all have commemorative U.S. postage stamps. Add to that list Humphry Bogart, John Wayne and Grace Kelly.

People magazine is polling their readers as to the next entertainer to get a stamp. They suggested Paul Newman, Patrick Swayze and Michael Jackson.
Their poll is found here.

Who would you like to see on a stamp? Click here and tell us.

You can tell it's Friday before a Holiday weekend. I would like to see Paul Newman. It's I think it is now his turn. Those beautiful blue eyes.

The People poll shows 88% in favor of Michael Jackson which tells us more about who reads People than anything else. The Simpsons did not sell like USPS thought they would. We need to stick to classics not contemporary media, or else charge a fee for advertising them on our stamps. Of these three, Paul Newman definately would be best.

Paul Newman is a no-brainer and Michael Jackson too, eventually.

I can't imagine Karen Carpenter making the cut on her own, but maybe we'll see some Pop Singers of that era collection sometime in the far-off future.

Patrick Swayze? Roadhouse? Please.

Paul Newman for sure. He's an icon, a great actor and humanitarian. Too soon for Michael Jackson, though if they do a Pop Music series he could make it either on his own or with his brothers. Too soon for Patrick Swayzee, too. Yeah, he did some cheesy flicks but he also had some great roles in movies and television.

For sure wait until Karen and her brother can be on a stamp together, hopefully that's a long way down the road.
Next up, its gotta be Paul Newman!

Really Michael Jackson - to soon!
I would definately say Paul Newman, how dreamy to see those blue eyes on a stamp!

Michael Jackson...I would never put him on a stamp due to his legal issues. Time after time he was accused of questionable actions.
In view of the many poor decisions that the Post Office has already made it would not surprise me if they did.
Paul Newman would be the logical choice.
