It seems like postcard are the ultimate compliment; "wish you were here," they shout. Or they might be a form of victory; "we finally had the money to travel!"
Some are just simple expressions. Some are elaborate works of art.
What's been the most interesting postcard you've ever seen or received? Comment here.

I have in my possesion three post cards from France that were brought back my great great grandfather. I am not real sure of the age of these postcards but I definately wouldn't send them thru the mail. They are on the shady side to put it nicely.
I receive about a hundred postcards a month and have a huge number of favorites, but some of the recent highlights are a lenticular mapcard from Slovakia (link is to my Flickr account), a view of Cusco in Peru that has a fantastic message on the back relating a wonderful memory (link is to my blog), and postcard sent by school children on the tiny island of Tuvalu (link is to one of my favorite sites, PostCrossing).
Thank you for this post Benny! I could go on and on about postcards, but I usually save that for the mail I put in my mailbox every morning.
I once received a postcard of a naked woman from a friend stationed overseas. I was sure surprised to see that in my mailbox!
A humorous post card I sent out one time had a photo of a rickety-old run-down shack of a house, and the caption was "ONE MORE PAYMENT and IT'S OURS!"
These would be good to send when celebrating the pay off of your mortgage!

My Mom grew up during the Great Depression, so she never threw anything out. She had old postcards from the 1900's that looked like the "Greetings from America" Stamps.
We are a small town and no local postcards. I had a customer come in and they had taken a black marker and blacked out one side of the postcard and they showed me they had wrote picture of "our towns name" at night. Very creative customers!!
When I was in the serivce and stationed in Korea, my mother gave me 12 prestamped post cards. I was to mail her one at the begining of each month that I would be there. She also required me to write her a letter in between each card. I wrote her more often then that...but it helped me remember that someone wanted to hear from me!
We buy post cards everytime we go on vacation. Funny thing though is that we don't usually mail them. We keep them as momentos of our fun family times. I especially like the ones that I purchased on our cruise that had vivid pictures of vegetation and the ocean. I like to look at those and dream when it is cold and dreary here in the midwest.
I, too, buy postcards while on vacations for momentos and now I write on them little highlights of our trip. I wish I had started this years ago because I have never been faithful about journaling.
To the bloggers that buy postcards on their vacations.....stop at a local post office, buy a stamp and ask for a cancellation on your card, and then jot down a few of the memorable moments in that place. Great reading and remembering years down the road!
