Benny here.
Yesterday, I listened to Your Postal Podcast and heard the story of Frank Warren, who is the creative force behind the Internet sensation called Post Secret.
Warren's project solicits people to send him anonymous postcards, bearing their deepest, darkest secret.
That got me to thinking. I have some deep, dark secrets. Like the time I secretly left a rotting sausage under the porch of that rascal Alexander Hamilton. Or how about the time I hid Jefferson's wig in the chamber of John Adams.
I have a "postal secret," too. Although I was the big shot Postmaster from Phildelphia, I must admit that I travelled quite a bit. It was actually Mrs. Franklin who ran the show most of the time for me. She created a orderly place of business, gave it charm, and helped organize the place.
If she were in charge today, I wonder what we would be?

I'm in love with my co-worker but they don't know it :)
It really is no secret....beginning in 1992,I worked hard as a non-career PMR for almost 12 years....only guaranteed 2 hours on Saturday mornings, but over the years, got involved more and more, working OICs (7 total) and taking postal classes offered at a junior college 135 miles (one way) from my home...one night a week...for THREE years...and FINALLY...after several interviews for a Postmaster position....I was SUCCESSFUL in becoming the Postmaster in my hometown, in 2003!
PERSEVERANCE....it's
NO SECRET...it's PRICELESS!
Wanda Frasier
I listened to the podcast and checked out the post secrets website... it was depressing. I had hoped people were writing more positive secrets. I hope must people's lives are not that bad.
Good for you Wanda Frasier. My "secret" isn't secret either. I love my job as a Postmaster in my tiny town. I left a job as a SSA, with a much larger paycheck, to take this job and I've never regretted it. I'm having fun!
I've been blessed to work for the Postal Service for almost 32 years. The company has made tremendous strides in work relations and I am happy to be a witness to the progress. There are still both managers and employees who regardless of training, life experience and environment, still CHOOSE to remain evil and vindictive, but I'm glad that they are slowly either retiring or leaving by other means. Not all 32 years have been wonderful, but I've always been grateful for my career employment!
I once read that if you love the job you are doing, you will never work a day in your life! My secret is that I love being a PM and being part of everyone's day. In a small rural town...you often have to tell the same story 10 times a day with the same passion that you did the first time you told it.
I certainly didn't find PostSecret the most uplifting place to visit. It is sad that we are so entertained by such sarcasm. My secret is that I try to get along with my coworkers and when I go home at night I try to mentally leave work at work. I like my job and it is not a hard job, but sometimes dealing with cranky coworkers makes it next to impossible. I leave it here and go home where I know I can make a difference. I also think my other secret is that I always say Thank you to my coworkers for everything that they do for me. It makes things go much more smoothly and they smile.
A test run
