This mummy can't go in the mail

A Bolivian woman was arresting as she tried to send a mummified body dating back to the Incan times through the mail.

The parcel, addressed to a French town,  was discovered during a routine check

So, that's pretty strange. But I bet you have seen stranger things than that.

Comment here and tell the world!

We get the occasional dead puppy going to the clinic in Pullman.

I've heard of dead letters but what do you do with a dead body? This wouldn't have been a mailhandler that fell asleep in the back of a machine, would it?

I've handled baby chicks, turkeys, ducks, adult chickens, eggs, birthday cakes, bees, crickets, cremated bodies, heads of suspected rabid animals, animal hides and frozen bull seman. When I worked at a pet store our crickets came by mail but our boa constictors arrived by bus which makes me glad now that I work for USPS because I'd hate to have one of them get loose in a post office.

Ditto to all the critters and bodies above and add meal worms for a bait shop. They are little and have feet, once in a while a few would slip out of the packaging! Have seen coconuts, had customers ship dried flowers for weddings, and maidrites with dry ice.

Have seen alot of live fowl -- half of which die enroute -- snakes and crickets (some of which escape and chirp on @ the PO), beach balls and coconuts with address info and messages written on them, messages in unwrapped bottles, saplings, fishing poles, alot of medical specimens being sent for testing, shrimp (packed with dry ice), etc. Had to Google Maid-Rite to understand a previous post! :)

Yep sounds like the same stuff here. I did have the local vet come in (well his assistant) with a package that had a very pecular smell. Yep you guessed it black and white stripe cat (skunk). Really glad to see that package leave. We also had a homing pidgeon come in. Wasn't exactly sure what was in the box until it was until it started cooing.

If it was a homing pidgeon couldnt they just have let it get itself home?

The homing pigeon comment is funny. I wish this had a like button like facebook. I had a customer who regularly mailed a bag of cow manure for testing. It smelled like very sour milk and stunk up the whole office.

We mail cremains all the time. Why not mummies?

One of the strangest things I ever saw was a customer had mailed a light bulb... It had stamps on it and the address was written with a sharpie on the glass. It made it to it's destination in one piece.

Sending a mummy in the mail:
Questions:
Where has it been ?
Who is she mailing it to ?
Do they want it ?
Why ?
Postage due?
Over 70 pounds ?
Did it stink ?

She should've just slapped some Avery labels on it and it would've been fine.
