Go Green gets a rousing reception at EPA

Denver Postmaster Mark Talbott (right) teamed up with Denver Environmental Protection Agency Region 8 Administrator Jim Martin in unveiling the new Go Green Stamps at a special ceremony April 14.

The unveiling event was held before hundreds of EPA employees and students in the atrium of the Denver EPA's Gold LEEDS environmental award building, which features many recyclable materials and a green roof.

Since we are in such tough times...are such presentations still necessary? I would like to know what it costs to make this display, the work hours involoved in doing the presentation, and the travel costs. Would that money not be better spent keeping the small offices open...who are actually selling those stamps?

I totally agree with the above comment. We can't possibly justify the expense of these showy presentations when USPS is telling small communities across the country that they're losing their local PO due to declining volume and revenue. Let's get our priorities straight.

While the Postal Service provided the stamp image, the EPA did everything else.

They loved it.

We cannot quit trying to generate revenue, even while we are cutting costs to the bone.

Why didn't you just put 20 stamps on the darn pane. 16 is just a plain old pain for a window clerk. People want a book of the green ones; tell them there are 16 stamps instead of the regular 20 and they say; "Never mind, just give me the forevers". This set is not selling well.
