Off to college. What about the laundry?

In the "good" old days, more than  a few college students would send their laundry back home for mom to wash. Of course, they would use the U.S. Mail for both the sending and the return.

What would you do if your college student saw this idea and decided to implement it?

Do it!!! At least you would know that they are still out there. Once they are in college, communications back home are very scarce.

I would mail quarters to them!

If my daughter mailed me her laundry, I'd wash it up and send it back...with a bottle of detergent!!

I lie that they want to use the mail but by the time they go to college they should know how to do their own laundry. If I knew what it was I would send it back unopened.

Mine's been doing his laundry since 9th grade. It wouldn't happen, but I might get food bills in the mail! And I would happily answer, because ... he's my kid! :)

Mates today expect each other to help with laundry. Doing their kids laundry actually hinders them at the college age. However, I have observed in college dorms when a student gets a care package from home - Snap! they are an instant VIP! I send care packages to all the local new college kids I know. I always get a heart felt thank you note.

I have seen some pretty odd containers used for mailing, such as the large Rubbermaid tubs; who knows, maybe they WERE mailing their laundry home...

First of all it is my child, I would do the laundry, yes I would grumble. Next I would priority mail it back to them. Hey it helps postal revenue, they are doing their part for helping build revenue and I can do my part by mailing it back to them.

My child better not mail her laundry to me when she goes off to college next year. I will send care packages, but my kids learned how to do laundry when they were in elementary school. I want progression, not regression.
