According to Federal Times, a short-term House spending bill would delay the $5.5 billion payment for health care retirees for 90 days.
The continuing resolution would give lawmakers a chance to sort out the various proposals and come up with a solution.
What do you think about this? Is it a good idea? What would you do?

No disrepect intended, but it doesn't really matter what "we" think. "They" are going to do whatever they want to do!!!
DITTO !!
Gimme a break. They've had 2 years already. Quit the stalling and give the PMG what he wants.
We wouldn't have made the payment anyway -- and won't be able to make it in 3 months, either -- but at least, technically, a formal delay avoids a default at the end of this month.
True, "they" don't always listen to what "we" think - but there's a good reason for all employees to start contacting the people that represent them in Congress, and remember how they respond at election time! I decide who to vote for based on their support of USPS employees - that's more important to me than any other issue. Saying that, I agree with most of the Obama administrations proposals recently announced and I will remember the names of the legislators who would rather cut our benefits and salaries and lay off employees. We still have a large workforce so we CAN educate and motivate our representatives.
I strongly doubt our elected leaders have the courage to make the inevitably unpopular decisions that this situation calls for. Short-term, delay the pain type "solutions" won't address the core problems. Refunding the overpayments doesn't change the fact that there is so much less mail, that we have to deliver to an ever-growing number of households. As stated many times here, trim the fat at HQ. Start by cutting the layers and layers of paper-shufflers instead of those actually moving the mail. How many VP's do we really need? It seems all they do is give each other awards.
I'm surprised Congress even payed enough attention to give the 90-day extension. They are usually just arguing amongst themselves. They still have not made a decision on the national debt, they delayed that also until November.
I think we need one of those Foreign Political meetings...the ones that end up in a slug fest.
It just occured to me . . . what happened to the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) who let all those billions (that's with a "B") slip by him in over-payments??? It seems to me that HE/SHE is responsible for all the financial problems we are going through right now & will continue to go through for many years!!! How much was that individual payed to be negligent with our finances to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars??? Wait . . . that person is either still on the payroll or bailed out with his/her Golden parachute! Something to think about, huh?
I think that we should take our que from Harley Davidson, turn the company over to its employees. Each employee will be granted shares (voting rights) based on years of service. We can then vote in who we want to be PMG. We can vote on how many districts we want or need, or if we need area offices. Each employee in each office or station should have a finanicial stake in the company...the more it costs to run a office...the less their is for salaries. That forces the people to cut costs.
Since the PMG says we can't sustain the $5.5 billion payments and the USPS has unsustainable business practices, shouldn't the VP of Sustainability get fired?
