New Postal Logo - got any ideas?

The Postal Service logo is serving us quite well, splashed across hundreds of thousands of vehicles, products, and buildings.

But this blog is all about Big Ideas.

So, if you could design a new logo, what would it be?

Myra Whipple drew these. What do you think? Comment here.

And if you have your own idea, send it here.

I like them both....but I don't think this is the time to change our logo. Think of the costs of replacing thousands of signs, flags, and banners. A time for a logo change should be when we have made it through the rough times...then we can change our logo and brag about our emergence from the downed economy.

Coke, Tide, etc hardly ever change their logos. I thought logos were part of branding a product or company and shouldn't change very much or very often. Maybe we should stick with what we have. It's more modern looking. We left the horse logo behind because it dated us. How does an eagle fit into mail delivery? We aren't government any longer. We go the last mile. A walking carrier might be more appropriate with the rain, clouds, etc.

I like the second image with the full eagle. It sure beats the current design that the post office gave millions of dollars to the designer. The current design still reminds me too much of the Seattle Seahawks logo. One suggestion to the drawings would be to have the eagle going forward instead of backward.

I actually like the top one better then the one below. Why not have a realistic wavy flag instead of the colors on the wings. I don't care for the idea of a carrier walking as we are an all rural office. But I do agree this isn't the right time to be changing logos and spend more money unnecessarily.

I don't like either one of them. It is not the right time to spend millions of dollars changing a logo, We don't have the resources to do something stupid like that. DO WE??????? If we do I would rather see it spent on management skills for the horrendous management that we have in the Postal Service. Or for more clerks and carriers instead of spending the money on OT, What a ridiculous idea to change the logo now. We don't even know if there will be a Postal Service in the future.

Logo should be something that notes we are Improvised from the exisiting and traditional old legacy processes and efficient. I felt sad when I saw an FEDEX/UPS Commercial/Advertisement that notes cavemen sent letter by Eagle and it got killed by dragon or something. I think we should have a Logo that has a transformation from Eagle to all the means of transporting mail and others things involved(Green,Sustainability) where we want to be. Maybe Eagle transformed to IT Servers that communicates to all means of Transporting mail(Air-Fighter Plane,Ship/Speed Boat,Internet,Mobile,Rail, Surface, Military and Rural,Don't forget people(employees)) and all other things we do with patriotic Stars and colors. I am not a Designer, but if we want to invest our precious dollars that where we need to do 6Sigma 99.997% accurate and savings on no errors.

I think the Forever Stamp would make the perfect Logo. The Postal Service hopefully will be here forever.

With all due respect intended, with the financial state of the Postal Service right now, we do not need to undertake the expense and waste of adopting a new logo. As a general rule, AMERICANS do not like constant change so we as the Postal Service need to take a "steady - on" attitude on this one to send the message that we are here to stay for the long haul.

While I appreciate the obvious talent of the artist, I do not care for either logo. The current one we use is a much sleeker, easily recognized logo. And like some of the other comments, in our present financial condition the LAST thing we need to spend our money on is a new logo.

Don't change our logo; "the beak in the box" is just fine!

Do not like either one. Too old fashioned. Our current logo is modern looking. If changed the logo should be forward looking, not a design from the past. They are also too busy - we need something streamlined.

How can we fly like an eagle when we work for a bunch of turkeys?

Myra Whipple is an excellent artist, very lifelike eagle; however, I would prefer to see the red, white and blue as the color of its feathers, rather than the wavy stripes.

I do not care for them either, they are very dated looking. I too like what we have, however I think the forever stamp design for a logo is an interesting thought worth considering.

I like the current logo but I would love to see Mr. Zip return.

I don't like either of these images. I agree with other posters that the designs are too old fashioned. I also agree that now is not the time to be spending big bucks on changing the logo.
