Steve Carell goes from The Office to the Post Office

Steve Carell is the star of the NBC hit, The Office. It's one of television's quirkiest shows. The comedy centers around the disfunction of employees of a paper company.

Carell is departing the series and has inked a deal for a new series, called the Post-Graduate Project

According to The Atlantic Wire the series is based on Carell's job as a mail-carrier in Massachusettes before he made it big in comedy and films.

The Post Office is "sweet and nostalgic, but filled with a quirky, tight-knit group of twenty-somethings who frequent the office."

Carell apparently quit his job because his Postmaster told him he was "innefficient."

What do you think about this? Comment here.

It will be interesting to watch and see if the show generates as many fans as "Cheers."

If it's anything like The Office, it will be hilarious.

I absolutely detest the office; I just can not imagine a more irritating program. I, personally, have never met people as moronic as the group portrayed on that horrid show. If this new program is anything at all like the office I will be changing the channel.

If they actually talked to some of us mail carriers, it might fly. But of course, they won't, it will be an outdated version of cheers. Too bad....

Cheers 2? I can't stand the show "The Office" though my daughter finds it to be one of the best shows on TV. We'll see what this new one is like. I doubt it could be any worse.

The last comment sounds normal. He quit because his Postmaster told him he was inefficient.

It will depend on how the PO is portrayed. If we come out looking like a bunch of inefficient, lazy employees--No go. I know many carriers (I'm not one) and every one does his/her best to ensure delivery an timeliness despite some irritating problems. Yes everyone is different and works at thier pace but the completed job with customer satisfaction is our goal-not clock watching.
I've never seen a truely accurate portryal of the Postal Service on any sitcom. Let's hope this comes closer than the guy known for spending his time in uniform in a bar.

well, i like watching 'the office' --it is moronic but so funny. So, i am in hopes that this series will be good. I recently saw a show which had the title 'Going Postal' and was a horrible show of the terrible crimes/actions people (not postal at all, of course) commit. I do not appreciate the title at all.

Like the previous posters, I hope this is not just a Hollywood vehicle to make fun of us and make postal workers look like lazy, overpaid morons. If that turns out to be the case, we may have to initiate a letter-writing campaign!!

I also saw the "Going Postal" program; I was highly offended by the title of the show and sent the network an email (as I could not find an actual address) telling them so.

I only watched one episode of The Office, but I've seen him in other things. He's a comedian so I'll expect the show to have it's funny bits but I hope that it shows some hard working employees as well as comedic ones. I don't know if I'll ever personally watch it but I will look out for it to air.
