Mailbox Love

A couple of Denver Mailboxes have been vandalized, but it's not your typical work.

The "artist" has injected some humor, creating a little heavy metal love, according to Unseen Denver. The collection box is situated right next to a relay box and the grafitti insinuated a love relationship between the two.

Rightfully so, maintenance painted over the paint. But before long, the two were back.
"Missed you," said one Box. "Missed you, too," said the other.

Painted over again, new messages later appear. "They Can Never (Heart)" "Tear Us Apart (Heart)" the two announced.
What should our next step be? Encourage the love messages? Keep painting over them?
Comment here.

We have to keep painting them over, but they are really neat. Someone has a very good sense of humor.

Seems to me that we are already encouraging the "Love Artist" by leaving them a clean canvas for their next message each time we paint over their message. I say leave the "love boxes" alone. As long as their relationship doesn't create a FEDEX box next to them!

I think they should leave them alone. Apparenntly that love is meant to be.

Arrest the vandals and press charges, then drop them with a stern warning.

Leave them alone we need all the good publicity that we can get. These 2 have gotten ALOT of FREE advertisement and that is just what the USPS needs right now. Whoever said to arrest the vandals and press charges needs to rethink what they said.

Paint some genitals on the boxes with some slang sex terms...really get things heated! You know..like male this!

I'd like to be in management.
Let the Postal Inspectors do their job. Then throw the book at the vandals.

How much has it cost USPS so far? You think Maintenance works cheap?

I think it's probably creating a buzz in the neighborhood and getting us some free publicity! To come down hard on the "vandals" would only put us in a very bad light, and we can't afford that right now. I say leave the lovey boxes alone. If they continue to paint over it, it will only continue.

Leave the boxes alone.

Why not just pull the boxes? Quit spending money.

I realize it is grafitti (sp?) but it does not display gang symbols or messy destructive signage--leave it alone--

I feel like we'll end up repainting them so often we will ultimately have to remove them. It's a shame, because they are positive, but we really cannot start making exceptions, plus -- in many jurisdictions -- the property owner can be fined for not remediating graffiti.

leave them, we realy have more important things to worry about. as for sending the PI's after them? your kidding right? i would rather have them spend their time going after the oh so injured employee, who can only work 4 hours a day, and can lift 1 letter at a time.. but can put a new roof on their house than harrass the creative customer/employee

Very, very cute even tho it is considered vandalism.

Leave it alone..its cute and like others have said its free publicity

I would just leave it...it costs too much to keep painting them over and over when they will probably never stop painting on them. And it's cute. :)

I think we should overlook this situation. It gives people a warm fuzzy feeling and reminds them of the love letters they used to receive and send. These two love boxes make people smile and keeps us in their thoughts. We need that more than ever now. Save the Lovers!

Pull the boxes. Nobody mails letters anymore and carrier routes don't have enough mail to support relay boxes... Save money all the way around.

I say leave it alone, i think the postal service has had enough bad publicity here lately. Have a sense of humor once in awhile. Pulling the boxes is only going to get usps out of sight even more than what we are now. I still mail letters almost everyday thank you!!! No one likes someone who is going to be a negative nancy all of the time!!!

We are all worried about what is painted on a mailbox and how much it is going to cost to repaint it, but what about all of the money the postal executives are wasting on the health spa's!!! Oh yes they have a wellness spa just for them!! In Washington!! They say it is for wellness but they are the only ones that get to use it not the rest of the postal employee's!! If it was a wellness spa all of us postal employee's should be able to use it, not just them!!! We are closing small post offices to cut back on cost and to help save the postal service. We are going to make small communties suffer without a post office, but they can spend thousands on a wellness spa!!!! What is wrong with this picture!!! We need to get a new PMG in there ASAP, before this one destroyes the postal service altogther!!

i agree. take the postmaster general and put him to work elsewhere.he is going to get rid of the postal service.take away their spas and leave rural offices open. Come and pull weeds at my office and their is your workout and spa
