Every Door Direct Mail -- Is It Working?

As you may know, the Postal Service is testing out an urban and suburban simplified address service for small businesses, called Every Door Direct Mail, which waives permit fees and requirements for individual addresses for businesses to run local advertising campaigns.

Do you know anyone that's using it? Is it working for them? Is it working for us? Leave a comment here.

I think it's an awesome idea! It's gratifying to see USPS thinking outside the box, with all these fresh, new ideas to make our services even more user-friendly.

Great idea, now to get the business!

I think simplifying a mailing will prompt other small businesses and organizations to send out mailings where they may not have before.

We get the weekly sale ads in our office; they used to come addressed Postal Customer, but recently they changed to actual addresses. I hope they take a look at the simplified addressing, as it is easier for the rural carriers if they don't have to look at the addresses!

Our office delivers a lot of addressed "current resident" mail.
Can't understand why they would address mail like this since it doesn't get 100% saturation.
I hope this new approach takes care of that problem.

We've prepared a bunch of the Every Door Direct Mail (simplified mailers)-- we've found the some of the postal customers meet resistance from the clerks because the clerks aren't aware of the program. I think that's one of the biggest concerns that we have.

We're in the Suncoast district here in Florida and are an MSP. We love this program because it enables customers that would have never tried direct mail to take a test without significant risk.

I hear that the mailing list companies are somewhat upset with the post office because it is pulling people away that would normally by walk sequence lists. The thought is that if they have success with EDDM, maybe they'll try a new program.

I also hear that there is a national ad campaign that will be pushing this business program later this year.

Did you guys hear that as well?

Every Door Direct Mail is a ground breaking new direct mail system created by the US postal service that allows businesses to mail postcards or other mail pieces at an astounding 14.2 cents per postcards. We think that the postage savings alone is enough to jump for joy and commit marketing resources to using the program - however, we thought it would be prudent to look at the alternatives to Every Door Direct Mail and compare them as viable solutions
