There’s a new service coming this year that will offer a digital mailbox to electronically receive mail, pay bills online, and store important files securely using the strength and reliability of the Post brand name. It isn’t the U.S. Post Office offering this service, however. It’s the Australia Post and they’re looking to incorporate electronic diversion into their service lineup.
The Digital MailBox service will offer free personal management apps that will allow its customers to use any electronic device to access the new features. The apps will also include encryption technology to keep private communication private as well as multiple levels of authentication to prevent unauthorized access.

We should have jumped on that band wagon and charged a service fee.
There is a similar service NOW called earhtmail... Earth Mail provides a comprehensive online mail management solution for receiving your postal mail online.

It may be something that would cost more to provide than the market will support in revenue - like the FSS.

The Postal Service should have developed a product like this before Zumbox and Earth Mail did. Digital mail companies open your hardcopy mail and scan it. Our employees can offer better security as federal employees than a private company can.
I disagree. Nothing is safe on-line. We've had promises before, but hackers can get anything they want.

The US Postal Service is way behind the 8 Ball when it comes to using the latest technology to its advantage. They should've jumped on this a long time ago.
USPS should have jumped on providing internet service when email was beginning to become popular...too bad the powers that be were so short-sighted and thought the postal service was invincible. Any new services or products that we could offer our customers would be worth looking into. We need to be looking at creative ways to increase revenue, rather than just cutting and hacking away at the network and workforce.
We should of done this 5, 10 yrs ago.The popstal service is way behind. If we want to be competitive then we have to see the big picture. What happened to the postal service having plans in the future? It's a day to day guessing game.

Isn't this what Paul Vogel will be doing, as our new President of Digital Solutions? I wish we had more information as to what is being contemplated.
Should have done this a l o n g time ago . . . So, let's do it now, and make it a better product than the competitors' offerings and price it appropriately (maybe even cheaper than the competitors). And, employ Al to advertise it.

If not in the works, it should be on the planning board and up and running in the next few days. You have to move quick if you want to stay in business these days.
yes - the USPS needs to go forward instead of the backward direction it is going now - offer a digital mailbox where the "mail" is printed out and delivered to your real mail box.
They are paying the big bucks to uppermanagement to come up with ideas, the only ideas they can think of are to cut hours, raise prices, not hire anyone new, let one person take the load of 3 or 4..if someone could have opened thier eyes and asked employees maybe something like this would have already been in the works.
I don't think may people are going to pay for something that's already free. EMAIL. You can pay your bills on line already too. I don't know, sounds good to those who travel a lot though. I don't think there's going to be a post office very much longer anyhow so why not.
